HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CLEAN YOUR SOLAR PANELS?

This depends greatly on where the house is situated. Giving Solar Panels a clean every 12 months will help keep them working at high capacity. If it is an area with a lot of traffic (generates traffic dust) or there are significant bird droppings and leaves from trees you may want to get them cleaned more often, perhaps in 6 month intervals. We find that mould does like to grow on the bottom section of lower panels and if allowed to dry, bird droppings can be quite stubborn to remove. Giving the panels a clean is quite affordable and a good investment.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T CLEAN YOUR SOLAR PANELS?

If bird droppings, mould and other debris are allowed to settle on panels they will reduce the efficiency and output of the system. Solar panels need maximum light to perform efficiently and just as some shade will lower the output of a solar panel system, so will leaves, bird droppings, mould and traffic dust. In Bundaberg, we enjoy great sunny weather however we also have a significant amount of thriving trees which not only drop leaves and promote the growth of mould but also provide excellent homes for birds.
